Marielis is a professional violoncello player with a very unique understanding of classical music. It’s amazing to talk to her about small sequences and parts of pieces and how she tries to understand the language of the composer and his intensions. If you have never touched the field of classical music in your life, a conversation with Marielis will bring you on track and give you the itch for learning more – for sure.

It was a pleasure for me to shoot her very spontaneously in a kind of unusual location for a violoncello. The humidity of the indoor pool was actually very dangerous for the wood of this expensive music instrument, so we only had a few minutes to get some good shots. The very early morning light was just perfect and the combination of music and water with reflections and shadows is the right ambient for creating some poetic shots of a poetic human being.
